Zhongtai Group and China Kunlun Contracting and Engineering Company recently signed a framework agreement on contracting the 1.2 million-t/a PTA project. This indicates the first million-ton PTA project in the western part of China has entered into practical construction period. Based on this project, Xinjiang will further extend its textile supply chain. According to Zhongtai Group, the PTA project will be located in Ganquanbao Industrial Park which is 40 kilometers north to Urumqi, the capital city of Xinjiang.

It will use the 1 million tons of PX produced by CNPC Urumqi Petrochemical Company as raw material. With a total investment of CNY 4.63 billion, the project is expected to be completed in 2015 and earn sales revenue of CNY 11 billion annually.
